Sempai Roumen Raditchkov
First introduced to martial arts in the Bulgarian AirForce Academy 1980. After a year of Shotokan training, continued with Kyokushin karate, as well as specialized army combat techniques. Led the academy team to the newly established Airforce Championship in 1984 and won the first place individually and for the team.
In the late eighties, due to some injuries and life changes, stopped active training for over 20 years.
Luckily, after a long break, found the Phoenix Association's Rockville dojo and a new beginning in karate.
Since then trained under Shihan Reburn, Shuseki Shihan Melanson, Shihandai Masur, and Sensei Toma.
Participated in Sabaki tournaments 2008, 2009, and took third place in heavy weight semi-contact 2008.
Attended Phoenix gashuku (training camps) with Kancho Soller, as well as association's instructor sessions.
In 2013 won the Phoenix kumite tournament in heavy weight. Successfully tested for Nidan (2nd degree black belt) at the summer gashuku 2017.
Continues training and teaches classes as at the DuPont dojo as well as the Bulgarian Saturday School in DC.
